I apologize in advance for this rant and will get back to posting fine arts and music momentarily, but this needs addressing.

Epileptics everywhere face discrimination in seeking driver’s licenses. Most states require that a third-party neurologist examine and approve their condition (at the patient’s expense), and nearly all have extended periods of license suspension following any seizure activity. For the state of Maryland, this period lasts six months. For Virginia, a year. And in the great state of Pennsylvania, an epileptic must wait eight years after seizure activity to legally drive. Meanwhile, however, the same state does not recognize epilepsy as a condition that merits disability compensation. In short, epileptics are not allowed to work at any place of employment that requires them to commute, yet are not supported by the state. Exactly what recourse do we have, then? What state congressman’s brother was killed in a car accident with an epileptic that sparked this kind of ridiculous, blatant witchhunting?

Also worth pointing out, persons with multiple DUIs can reobtain their licenses. (And—newsflash—if you’ve gone eight years without seizure activity, you are cured.)

Also, I hope arguing mythology with Pre-Raphaelites who have been dead for over half a century is attractive, because my boyfriend posted this.

I believe that may be what he’s in the process of doing—he’s just facing the wrong way as a means of flaunting his scantily clad and flaxen-haired body. Or that’s intended to be a really tiny Cerberus and the perspective is just a little fucked. Either way, he is clearly demonstrating the ancient Greek technique of using one’s loin-shawl as a bow for one’s lyre.
